Ryan Mayfield

Ryan has been working in the renewable energy field since 1999 and founded the Engineering Consultancy Mayfield Renewables in 2007. Ryan has been widely known for his commitment to understanding and demystifying codes and standards for the PV and energy storage industry for decades. His career has blended technical expertise with an affinity for writing and education. While leading Mayfield Renewables, Ryan was also the PV Systems Technical Editor for SolarPro Magazine from 2010 to 2018, where he wrote feature articles and was a regular contributor to Home Power magazine. He is also the author of PV Design and Installation for Dummies (published in 2010). He teaches nationwide PV courses on National Electrical Code, Electrical Testing Best Practices, and PV + Storage topics. He also sits on the Code Making Panel 13, charged with reviewing NEC sections 480 and 706. Ryan lives in Corvallis, Oregon, with his wife, three children, and two dogs.
