Qing Tian is a Technical Lead in the Energy Research and Development Division of the California Energy Commission, which is the State’s primary energy policy and planning agency. In this role, he leads activities for innovative research and development to improve California’s electrical grid infrastructure, making it more flexible, reliable, resilient, secure, and sustainable. Over his years with the Commission, he has worked on addressing the challenges facing the electrical grid as California transitions to 100% clean electricity. He has had the pleasure of overseeing many research grants to move energy technologies from the laboratory to the field and eventually to commercial success. Qing holds Ph.D. and Master degrees in Aerospace Engineering from Virginia Tech, and a professional engineer license in Mechanical Engineering.
