Sequoya Cross is the Chief Operating Officer for SimpliPhi Power, an industry leader in lithium-ion batteries and energy storage systems. Sequoya oversees the company’s engineering, test and validation, sales and technical support teams, interfacing with and growing SimpliPhi’s global network, as well as managing a portfolio of energy storage and microgrid projects with development partners across the residential, commercial, telecom, and emergency response markets, deploying systems both on and off-grid in more than 45 countries.
Prior to joining SimpliPhi Power, Mrs. Cross has served as CEO of two solar companies, Backwoods Solar and Tamarack Solar. As a former CEO, she has managed operations and supply chain for distribution and manufacturing of clean energy technology throughout the renewable energy sector. Sequoya was also VP of Operations for AEE Solar, one of the foremost renewable energy distributors in the Americas. Her technical background has allowed for a strategic focus on system design and implementation of customized solutions for remote areas all over the world.
In 2018, Sequoya worked as a solar applications engineer and operations manager for a social benefits company in the Washington DC area deploying large scale solar refrigeration for cold chain solutions throughout Africa, South America, and Southeast Asia. She has traveled throughout the world training agricultural partners on the benefits of off-grid solar and storage for commercial operations.
Her passion is to connect with people and companies that mirror her desire for improving basic human needs through access to energy. She works with multiple organizations that extend the reach of energy accessibility for a sustainable future. Sequoya is a member of Energy Access Practitioner Network for the UN Sustainable Energy for All initiative, The Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE), Efficiency for Access/CLASP, as well as CALSSA, furthering her involvement on many levels with solar policy and change and served as Board Chair for NorCal Solar, a chapter of ASES.
