Paul Hayes is an NCSU graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He is a Civil and Fire Protection Engineer in over 35 states, with 30+ years of principal engineer experience managing special hazards asset protection fire companies for the industrial and power markets. His focus in leading-edge design and development of detection and suppression systems for Lithium-Ion battery facilities. In addition, extensive federal, state, and local laws-regulations experience and regulatory agency negotiations. Using code committee and code development experience, Paul comprehensively supported NFPA 855. He is the task chair for the rewrite of suppression and explosion technologies for Lithium-Ion ESS/855. In addition, Paul is a consultant to ESS companies, Utilities with appropriate mitigation technologies, risk hazard evaluation and application, AHJ education, and design specifications to help define best practices for the industry. Engagements include NFPA 855 & 850 Principal Member, Professional Member SFPE, FSSA Board of Directors, EEI board of Directors, ESA Board of Directors, Member of EPRI Safety Council, SME FDNY, UL 9540A STP.
