There is a promising future for Pennsylvania’s renewable energy landscape. According to a recent white paper, potential developments are expected to increase the state’s solar capacity by 18x, or 11 GW.
This expansion, highlighted in the white paper by land development marketplace LandGate, positions Pennsylvania as a pivotal player in the development of clean energy with vast potential for growth.
The Keystone State is home to 46 active utility-scale solar farms which produce a total capacity of 562 MW. Each average farm spans 218 acres and can generate 12.2 MW of electricity under optimal conditions.
There are currently 9 projects under construction, with an additional 20 farms planned. Combined, there are 480 queued projects, along with 22 site control farms that have the potential to contribute over an additional eleven thousand MW once completed.
If all projects become operational, Pennsylvania will see an 11 GW surge in solar energy capacity.
The paper’s findings underscore the wealth of opportunities for solar developers, investors, and energy industry professionals in the state.
