Panasonic Exits the Solar and Energy Storage Industry

Panasonic announced on Monday its plans to shut down its solar and storage branch.

Once a major solar supplier to SolarCity/Tesla dealers, the company manufactured solar panels, inverters, and batteries for over 25 years.

In a statement on its website, Panasonic said it would honor all warranties and invited customers to email the company for support.

“We are committed to a smooth transition and will continue to provide customer support to existing customers, as well as future customers who are undergoing installations and commissioning. Please rest assured that all warranties will be honored for both installed products and those not yet installed. Where third-party warranties apply, we will continue to support our customers by providing clear direction and points of contact. Support remains available via our website and our dedicated solar and battery storage email at [email protected].”

After transitioning multiple times, the company most recently landed on its EverVolt line of solar panels and batteries. Panasonic also supported an installer program that offered benefits and opportunities to authorized, premium, and elite tiers of installers throughout the U.S.

Panasonic joins LG and SunPower, two other major residential solar players that have exited the market. LG shuttered its solar division in 2022 and SunPower sold its technology to Maxeon in 2020 before filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2024.
