Namaste Solar, a nationally recognized expert in developing, designing, and maintaining commercial solar projects, has partnered with Women’s Bean Project to install a 102-kW rooftop solar system and an EV charging station at the nonprofit’s Denver, Colorado headquarters.
According to Solar Power World, the project is being funded by the City of Denver’s Renewables and Resiliency grant.
The installation will offset 120% of the nonprofit’s power usage, reducing operating costs and enabling it to invest in supporting women’s empowerment through employment. Over its 25+ year lifespan, the project is expected to save Women’s Bean Project $300,775 in operating expenses.
The solar system will also enable the nonprofit to participate in Xcel Energy’s Solar*Rewards program, which will generate $99,228 in income over the next two decades.
The savings, as well as profits gained from Xcel Energy’s program, will provide support directly to Women’s Bean Project programs, which offers job training and employment opportunities to women facing barriers to work. According to estimates, the savings will fund over 15,000 hours of job and life skill program services.
