Haven Energy, Clean Power Alliance to Drive Solar and Battery Adoption in Low-Income Communities

Climate tech company Haven Energy has partnered with Clean Power Alliance (CPA) to install networked energy systems for qualifying CPA customers and create its first virtual power plant (VPP).

CPA, the largest Community Choice Aggregator (CCA) in California, is the leading green power provider in the U.S.

Haven will utilize funds from California’s SGIP Residential Solar & Storage Equity program to install zero-cost networked energy systems for 300 of CPA’s qualifying customers.

Haven’s all-inclusive suite of in-house financing, rebate management, and turnkey installations have already helped hundreds of homeowners take control over their energy while providing electric bill savings and resilience against power outages.

The collaboration will also establish a VPP to provide 4.8 MWh of dispatchable power to be used for reducing peak energy demand. It is projected to provide over $380,000 in savings during its first three years of operation.

Haven helps CCAs like Clean Power Alliance by providing flexible system capacity that defers the need for expensive peaker plants and infrastructure upgrades while providing equitable access to renewable energy in underserved communities.

“We’re excited to partner with Clean Power Alliance to deploy over 3 MW of distributed storage assets, a critical step in advancing California’s clean energy goals,” said Jeff Chapin, co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Haven Energy, in a statement. “These systems will not only provide homeowners with reliable, clean energy but also support CPA’s resource adequacy and load modification efforts. Additionally, by aligning with the demand response requirements of the SGIP program, we’re ensuring these assets contribute to a more flexible and resilient energy grid.”
