Renewable energy developer E2SOL has partnered with Yotta Energy to develop the Smart Solar Highway Median (SSHM) Power Infrastructure System which aims to transform dormant highway medians into self-sustaining clean energy hubs.
The collaboration between the two companies will leverage underutilized highway barriers to generate and store renewable energy.
To address common issues surrounding EV charging infrastructure like high energy consumption, grid constraints, and limited land availability, E2SOL’s SSHM integrates solar generation, microgrid capabilities, and the Yotta Block.
Yotta Block is a next-generation modular energy storage system that maximizes efficiency and minimizes installation challenges. Recently unveiled at the Intersolar & Energy Storage North America flagship event, it is a plug-and-play energy storage solution that eliminates the need for separate battery infrastructure. It integrates behind PV panels to make installation simpler and cheaper while optimizing space usage.
E2SOL and Yotta Energy have been collaborating with state agencies, utilities, and transportation authorities to bring the SSHM system to highways nationwide.
“This partnership is about reimagining infrastructure. By combining E2SOL’s Smart Solar Highway Median technology with Yotta Energy’s innovative Yotta Block storage, we’re enabling a future where highways not only move people but also generate, store, and distribute clean energy,” said Anthony Baro, Managing Principal at E2SOL, in a statement.
