D.E. Shaw Renewable Investments (DESRI) has signed two long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Meta Platforms Inc. (Meta) to provide the tech company with 400 MW of power from solar parks in Missouri and Texas.
The PPAs are tied to solar projects that are expected to be commissioned by the end of 2027. They include a 250-MW project in Missouri and a 150-MW project in Texas, which DESRI purchased from Acadian Renewable Energy LLC.
According to Renewables Now, both projects are sited in the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) territory.
The deals will contribute to Meta’s continued commitment to net-zero emissions; the company is actively purchasing power from other projects in DESRI’s solar portfolio in Utah, Virginia, and Arkansas.
Additionally, Meta signed four Environmental Attribute Purchase Agreements (EAPAs) with projects across four states with Invenergy, for a total of 760 MW of renewable energy.
“Our renewable energy partnership with Meta has expanded to span five states, encompassing more than 1,200 MWac of clean energy nationwide,” said Hy Martin, chief development officer of DESRI.
