Canadian Solar has entered into a partnership with U.S. solar recycling company SOLARCYCLE, positioning Canadian Solar as one of the first crystalline silicon solar module manufacturers to offer recycling services to its customers.
According to the companies’ agreement, SOLARCYCLE will act as Canadian Solar’s preferred recycling partner; Canadian Solar will take on the role of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to SOLARCYCLE.
Canadian Solar customers can now secure recycling services at the time of purchase, enabling future sustainability.
The partnership is a prime example of thought leadership and commitment of two companies advancing solar recycling adoption in the U.S. The recycling of silver, copper, glass, and aluminum will help redirect resources from landfills to the solar supply chain, thereby supporting domestic manufacturing.
“By including upfront recycling services as an add-on to the price of a solar module, Canadian Solar is helping to move the entire industry forward to ensure that we are truly sustainable, from cradle-to-cradle. We will look back on their leadership in this moment as one of the key strategies the solar industry used to embed our core values into our core operations,” said Suvi Sharma, CEO and co-founder of SOLARCYCLE, in a statement.
