Battery energy storage systems (BESS) provider EVLO Energy Storage Inc. announced the successful delivery of battery units for its first BESS project in California.
The project has a capacity of 12 MW/64 MWh and will be commissioned in Spring 2025.
It will enable greater solar energy integration, peak shaving, and frequency and voltage regulation. EVLO was selected for the project due to the company’s proven ability to deliver a multi-purpose BESS that maximizes value for the grid and project stakeholders.
EVLO signed an offtake agreement with a Community Choice Aggregator (CCA) in South California.
The company designed, engineered, procured, produced, delivered, and will commission the BESS, which is comprised of 64 EVLO 1000 units and 16 power conversion system (PCS) units. The system will be managed by the company’s proprietary North American and NERC-CIP ready energy management system, EVLOGIX.
In October, California’s battery energy storage capacity reached more than 13 GW. Energy storage is critical for the state to reach its long-term carbon neutrality and emissions reductions goals. The EVLO project will help support California’s progress toward meeting its goal of 52 GW of storage by 2045.
