Solar energy technology company Boviet Solar Technology Co. Ltd. has announced the opening of its first U.S. manufacturing facility.
The $294 million, state-of-the-art solar module plant is located in Greenville, North Carolina.
The facility will use advanced PERC and N-Type solar cell technology to manufacture its high-performance Gamma Series™ Monofacial and Vega Series™ Bifacial PV modules, which are used for residential, C&I, and utility-scale applications.
The opening completes Phase 1 of the factory, which facilitates an annual PV module output capacity of 2 GW. Phase 2 is scheduled to commence in the second half of 2026. It includes an additional $100 million investment in another 600,000 square feet of space for an annual capacity of 2 GW of high-efficiency solar cell manufacturing.
With over 1 million square feet in total dedicated to advanced manufacturing and R&D space, Boviet’s project is one of the largest clean energy manufacturing investments in the state.
Phase 1 will create 460 direct skilled local jobs and Phase 2 will add another 908 jobs. The project is also expected to support approximately 1,965 indirect positions, bringing a total of 3,200 jobs to the region. The expansion will increase demand for real estate, grow local commerce, and strengthen education and workforce partnerships, as well.
“The grand opening of our Greenville facility is a milestone moment for Boviet Solar and a testament to our enduring commitment to the U.S. market,” said Marco Marques, General Manager of Boviet Solar USA Manufacturing Operation, in a statement. “This facility allows us to manufacture high-performance PV modules on American soil, strengthening domestic clean energy supply chains and making meaningful contributions to North American energy independence and economic growth.”
