Deborah Knuckey

Deborah Knuckey

Deborah Knuckey brings more than 20 years of strategic marketing experience to the renewable energy sector. She is a writer focused on climate, energy and the polar regions and is cofounder and CMO of zinc battery innovator Enzinc.

She began her career as a financial and energy journalist in Australia before moving to the United States where she became a strategy consultant to energy clients at McKinsey & Company after completing her M.B.A.. She then married her writing and strategy roots at Ketchum, where she built the corporate practice in the Washington, DC, office. After taking a mid-career detour to write books and study sustainability, she joined the renewable technology firm Enphase Energy where she rapidly progressed to global head of marketing. Since then, she has helped startups in solar, storage, energy data, project finance and smart city technology grow, and was managing director of Kiterocket’s sustainability practice where she helped clients including BayWa r.e., Borrego, Mosaic, Nextracker, Inerjys Ventures, Intersect Power and Arevon grow their businesses.

Deborah holds an M.B.A. from UCLA, an M.S. in sustainable design from Catholic University, a LEED-AP credential, and a B.Ec. from Monash University in Australia. She is the author of two books published by John Wiley & Sons, and has studied documentary filmmaking, mountaineering, and polar expedition skills. She recently traveled to the Antarctic as part of ClimateForce 2041 and was selected for a Women Pioneers’ grant from Grape-Nuts for her Antarctic expedition.
