2025 Solar Games Competitor Resource Center
Welcome to the 2025 Solar Games
This landing page will be a living resource for you and your team for the 2025 Solar Games. Updates and additional information will be posted here as they become available, so check back often! If you have any questions or concerns, contact Shannon Twombly.
The 2025 Solar Games will take place February 25-27 in the San Diego Convention Center. A total of 8 teams will be competing in a bracket-style competition for the title of Solar Games Champion and $10,000. We will also be awarding 2nd and 3rd place teams, with $3,500 and $2,500 prizes, respectively.
Additional prizes to be awarded:
- 8 passes to the annual NABCEP conference to be given to final round participants (1st and 2nd place teams).
- Safety equipment provided by Solar Tools will be awarded to the 1st and 2nd place teams.
- 4 scholarships to Solar Energy International (SEI) online classes to the 1st place team.
The tournament will consist of 7 head-to-head matchups, culminating with the Championship round on Thursday, February 27th.
The winners from each matchup in Round 1 will advance to the Semi-Finals. The winners will be determined by a rigorous scoring system that assigns points based on categories such as safety, technical accuracy, and speed.
3rd place will be determined by comparing the scores of the 2 Semi-Final round losing teams.

Things to note:
- Time will be used as tie breaker in all rounds and at least one of the rounds will have time as additional points.
- Tool use/Tool selection will be considered in scoring details.

PICKING UP YOUR BADGE
You will be able to pick up your badge during registration hours on the 24th or the morning of the 25th. While not actively competing, you are free to check out the exhibit hall and attend any sessions taking place there.
TRAVEL STIPEND AND DEPOSIT REFUND
Your travel stipend and deposit refund will be issued within 30 days post-event. No action is needed on your part to receive these payments.
