What is Intersolar and where did it originate?

Intersolar abides by the guiding principle: Connecting Solar Business. Intersolar is the world's leading exhibition-series for the solar industry and has almost 20 years of experience. With over 2,600 exhibitors and 90,000+ visitors spanning three continents in 2010, Intersolar has the unique ability to best bring together the solar industry from the most influential markets around the world. Intersolar's global events take place in Munich, San Francisco, Shanghai and Mumbai.

Today Intersolar is recognized as the leading international exhibition-series for the solar industry. But, Intersolar began in the early 90s as Solar91, a specialist conference held in Pforzheim, Germany. The event’s rapid expansion resulted in its first change of location from Pforzheim to Freiburg, Germany in 1999, when it also took on its current moniker. But even there Intersolar quickly outgrew the exhibition space and in 2008 the event was again relocated to its current venue, the New Munich Trade Fair Centre, in Munich.

Intersolar North America stands out for its depth of content within the specific focuses on photovoltaics and solar thermal technology. As the only solar exhibition in North America dedicated to recruiting companies across the solar supply chain from around the world, Intersolar helps the industry improve global supply, distribution, training, regulation and business issues to accelerate market transformation and advance solar as a significant part of the global energy supply.

Who will I meet at Intersolar North America?

Intersolar features a diverse group of exhibitors as well as trade visitors and is specifically known for its internationality. In 2010, Intersolar North America featured trade visitors from 66 countries and exhibiting companies from 25 countries.

Trade visitors include: industry professionals, installers and integrators, manufacturers and suppliers, distributors, architects and project developers, investors and financial institutions, state and regional economic councils, analysts, utilities representatives, government officials / policy makers.

Exhibitors include: manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, service providers, project planners and research institutes.

Where is Intersolar North America held?

The Intersolar North America exhibition occupies Moscone Center, West and North Halls (747 Howard Street, San Francisco, CA 94103). The event is co-located with SEMICON West. The Intersolar North America conference takes place at the InterContinental San Francisco, located directly next to Moscone West (888 Howard Street, San Francisco, California 94103).

Where is SEMICON West held?

SEMICON West is located in Moscone Center North and South Halls, adjacent to Moscone Center, West Hall. The SEMICON West conference is held at various hotels nearby to the exhibition. For the exact locations of conference tracks, please view SEMI’s conference program online.

Is there an outdoor exhibit area?

No, Intersolar North America and SEMICON West do not feature an outdoor exhibit area.

How can I get to the event from San Francisco International Airport?

There are several ways to get to the Moscone West Convention Center area from the SFO International. Whether by the local train service, BART, taking a taxi or renting a car, reaching downtown San Francisco at is easy.
